In the end I would have to disagree with the epilogue of the author's oldest daughter when says that the porajmos defines all Romani, since I know of English and Spanish ones who barely mentioned it in their books or did not mention it at all.

That was quite a journey he had there. Also so far he had been with a romni and a sintezza, but I do wonder how he met his later wife.
Plus, despite everything read here, the page number 81 sticks in my head because what he wrote there is apparently going on in China right now.

Hm, previous accounts of the "riot" in the gypsy camp at Auschwitz made it look like some violent confrontation but this here is more like a standoff which ended because the officer in charge knew that while the SS would be winning, he would not have made it out alive.
Also, I wonder what a "Menaschja" is, is that a romanes word?

You know, despite all I read, the creepiest thing for me is not what he experienced in Auschwitz, but his statement about how if the doctors had been as advanced back then as today regarding organ transplantation, they would not have been worked to death, but kept healthy to serve as living organ banks aka as far as I am aware that is what the Chinese party is doing today.

Apart from the fact that this superstition about how to trick the devil out of a neverending coin sounds familiar, there is also something else familiar. The author talk about how they were told in the camp that they would get a piece of land to settle in the East. Sounds familiar:

Damn typo, I typed page 180 instead of 18. Interestingly, you can add a higher number than the maximum page number.

You notice that the author does want to remember his childhood fondly.
However the commentaries are interesting as they offer nuance in antiziganism that is usually ignored.
