But gorillas only live like 40 years max

So that's 30% of their life as juveniles

Conversely using human life expectancy in the US and assuming full growth by 20, humans spend 25% of their life as juveniles. Even less if you assume full growth at 18

A LOT of use of the r slur here. It was NOT proper medical terminology in 2009 when this book was published and the author surely knows that.
