Absolutely marvelous reading. It is not just beautifully written, but makes one feel passionate about thought. With Hobbes’ biography one empathizes with his curiosity and assertiveness to answer profound debates about the nature of things. I am greatly enjoying the exposition of the intellectual context (Galileo, Montaigne, Descartes…) and the influence of natural science (blood circulation, optics…).
