i’ve been having to check off the “notify me when people comment” box with every new review. as far as i’m concerned, all my reviews have notifications on. it sucks how we can’t even check which reviews we have notification on even if we have the button the actual settings checked off, so at this point i’m just going off comments from new reviews and since this change was made. the same goes for updates. you gotta check the box off.

How frustrating. Weirdly, when I click on the little bell notification icon, it doesn’t show that you commented on this update but the box that pops open has a link to ‘View all notifications’, and when I clicked that, it shows an update that you commented. Of note, I specifically did NOT check the box to “notify me when people comment” because I wanted to see what would happen if/when someone did.

goodreads really messed everything up with this new change of notifications. i've been seeing many people say similar things. i was already struggling on keeping up with all my notifications and i feel like i struggle more now haha. it's a change they did that did absolutely nothing but make it more complicated for us. all these updates they do and they still won't give us half stars, dark mode, proper replies, continues using html, won't change the sites appearance, etc.

I can’t even imagine how hard it is for you! Your reviews get such visibility and interaction. And you’re sure right about all the things GR could be doing to make it more functional yet they mess with what was already working well 🙄🥴
