This is so dramatic and unbelievable…2 characters the authors want to portray as good girls working hard to get through school but it doesn’t add up - ESPECIALLY FOR RUBY! She isn’t even clear if she likes this white boy but yet she’s risking it all and there is no reason to believe she’s ugly/feels she’s unwanted so attention is the motivation . I’m not buying this “love story” now Eleanor -maybe

Boring and predictable so far 🥹 me and popular books don’t mesh but stories portraying themes and stereotypes typically covered are boring it’s like I can see where this is going and it’s like watching paint dry atp
