Poor Agnes has been dead since page 30 and no one seems to care. This wouldn't bother me if the book weren't marketed as a mystery, but it is and it does.
Am also waiting for ******** to kick the bucket. Pegged in very early on and just waiting for the moment to play out.

Every man they meet is sweet as pie or a disgusting lout. There is no in-between. It is dialogue heavy and atmospherically light.
The book is historical fiction by virtue of subject matter and setting, but it reads like chick lit.

The leads feel thin and there is some unnecessary repetition in the text. I'd also be happier if we werent hopping between characters mid-chapter.
Agnes' body was found thirty pages back but Betty, Etta, and Maeve are operating as if her murder isn't a matter a consequence. Not entirely sure why this is but I'm trying to keep an open mind.

Picked this up at the Lincoln Book Festival after listening to the author take part in a panel discussion.
It's early pages but I can say the writing is straightforward and I'm sure there are romantic storylines ahead.
