nah but why are “spicy” books a thing now?? like why are we allowing and accepting this as normal??? KIDS BE READING THAT STUFF. why can i no longer find good books with amazing plots WITHOUT that nonsense.. im having to skip 10 pages in a row to avoid it. yall do realize its no different to watching p… its actually so infuriating

nani Nah but fr, That haunting adelin shiz had me gagging up a storm nd rolling my eyes heavy, they masked the plot with the erotic scenes and brought its whole story line down by 10

this was me with acosf and the entire crescent city series.. i believe sjm would've had the same success without adding the erotic stuff. read throne of glass and it's easily the best sjm series imo

Fatima Ali I’ve a problem with people who advertise a book just by highlighting smut and sidelining the plot. But- if you don’t want smut scene then just read the age limit before starting something🤷🏻‍♀️ for example if someone pick up Rina kent book and afterwords complain that there’s smut then it’s not author’s fault.

I think you missed the point here.. sure authors can do whatever they want but why are WE as readers hyping up books with spice and making it the only thing that matters in a GOOD book. check booktok or whatever platform and you'll see book reviews mostly focused rating the "spice" in the book. I can name so many books who had the potential to be great but were ruined by er*tic scenes taking over the main plot. anyway ik I have a bias here as I view any sort of sm*t or spice just completely wrong and disgusting.. you do you ig

The problem isn't the smut, but the fact that we got into the book expecting a story, and end it with a porn graph without the pictures.
For that we could simply look up porn stories for free. The book, ahem, BOOK, is supposed to have a storyline, a point to the peek of it, not just smut.
The problem is the reviews hyping up an amazing story line, when the storyline is the most vague facade in the book, because its solely focused on sexual content.

kitcantspell @afra age limit doesn't matter anymore in books. they'll label it as 13+ and a sex scene will be in it.
