We are into the Stalin era now - mostly - still bouncing around a bit. I think a better name for the book ought to be 'Scientists of the early Soviet period' or something since it's less about the actual science and more about the lives of the scientists with (in my opinion) not enough focus on their work and the outcomes of their work.

100 pages in and Stalin has been vaguely mentioned only. Covering in various detail the lives of several academics and other elites/intelligentsia leading up to and shortly after the October Revolution. There is certainly little to no sympathy to be found for the Bolsheviks and Lenin thus far as the author does his best to shill for elites, which thus far has bored and angered me.
