There are some theological points on which and ways in which I think Williams is dangerously wrong, but even so there are some lines and ideas that get me every time, including the last lines of The Region of the Summer Stars: "Kneeling after the Eucharist, the Pope said, / for the riches of loss, Magnificat; prostrate he prayed: / `Send not, send not, the rich empty away.'"

The poem "Bors to Elayne: on the King's Coins" is one that strikes me deeply every time I read it, at first as the striking phrases scattered through its otherwise irregular rhythm leap out at me, and then as I reread it and its economic/political/religious ideas sink in. This poem alone justifies my placement of the collection on my list of "books everyone should read" ... except it assumes too much of the reader.
