Pasteurisation isn't essential, it's just safer for us to drink. Raw milk can contain bacteria like E. coli, salmonella, and listeria, which, according to the CDC, from 1998 through 2018, there were 202 outbreaks linked to drinking raw milk. These outbreaks caused 2,645 illnesses and 228 hospitalizations.

Yeah, that's about what I figured, thanks Sarah. It's the apocalypse, zombies everywhere, they're barely keeping it together but they've got a cow to milk for the children (mostly) and are taking direction from a 15 year old girl on how essential it is to figure out how to pasturise when all they've got is guns and the clothes they're stood up in and not much else. They're talking about heating it up to pasturise but really, I'd just milk the cow and hope for the best.
