Aaaand now I need to take a break because I have gotten fuck all done and if I don't shut this down for at least a few days I'm going to get sucked into a hyperfocus hole that doesn't end until I've finished re-reading the rest of the series

"Harry blinked and glanced up at Sapientian. He had thought the Wizengamot would choose something more injurious to his parents' cause than just something he'd done every day."

Harry, you sweet little moron.

I had forgotten how early this particular attack came. I had in my head it was closer to the end of the year. This book does have about fifty-seven different major plot arcs though.

"He smiled slightly and leaned into the pressure, but kept his eyes always ahead, on Firenze's swishing, pale tail."

...So...you're staring at the centaur's ass. Kinky.

I've been estimating percentage based on chapter but it now occurs to me that that's not a great measure for this particular writer. I seem to remember the chapters getting increasingly long over time.

Oh well. Easiest way I can think of to keep track. This method at least allows me to reverse the math to get the chapter I left on.

...What the fuck happened to Theodore Nott? Have I somehow forgotten him transferring or getting killed or something? Because Crabbe, Goyle, and Blaise are accounted for but not him and I'm like 95% sure that by the next book it's down to just Harry and Draco in their room

I had forgotten that Parvati is an obnoxious pain in the ass for a while alongside Connor. Honestly, idiot, what the fuck part of 'brainwashed and abused' did you miss?

The part-creature concept is interesting (if a bit nauseating to think of the mechanics of) when it comes to Acies but I vaguely remember Neville's gran being, like, half-gryphon or something and the concept being so completely absurd that it damned near threw me out of what should've been a fairly serious scene

One thing that does bother me: Harry is basically always right. He's delusional as hell about a lot of things but, when it comes to anything outside his abuse, the narrative always portrays him as right, or at least justified. The boy went in to apologise for lying and *still* somehow managed to come out on top.

Dan Cannot bear having to work when the trial plot is getting started. Actually grateful I have surgery on Friday because it’ll be a whole week of reading, then no hockey for six weeks means even more progress.

Yeah, I ended up pushing through until the trial plot was over. I need to get some shit done though so I had to block FFN until I've been at least a little productive. Hopefully will put off going back to it until I'm out of town the week of Christmas.
