We are close. Thoreau has some really beautiful descriptions of the scenes of nature that take place around him which is a delight to read. Makes me nostalgic for my days in Boy Scouts in the woods. I think the answer to all of my problems is a cabin in the woods

We're getting somewhere now. The shorter chapters that Thoreau switches over to are much easier to digest. Some of what he says is incredibly insightful and other things he says are pretty obvious observations. He really thinks he's clever sometimes

Why did Henry David Thoreau decide to make the first chapter 59 pages long and then the rest of them 10-15 pages long. This was so hard to get through I'm not gonna lie. He presents so many different ideas that vary so drastically while anecdotally explaining his time at Walden Pond in between. Each page probably took me like 5 minutes to read. But I think we're in the clear now since the remaining chapters are short

I'm gonna have to pretend like I'm reading this for a class because it's old as balls but it feels like a requirement for anyone who calls themself outdoorsy or a botanist so I'm giving it a shot.
