Getting to the juicy reflection stuff yes!

this is somehow the longest book ever for me. I can only read in small parts bc it’s sometimes so frustrating. Like the whole book is to reflect on her time at the institute but we’re not even there yet!! She’s still just talking about being hospitalized! Ok girl what did you gain from it, how did you re-emerge into society give me something.

… some parts I’m like wow she’s cooking and everyone needs to get out of the kitchen. Other times it’s just a white woman whining about the past but that is grief and I’m like that too about my dad. she somehow is overly sensitive but also cold and aloof. We both know you can be more than one thing and humans are complex but idk

Been reading parts without the audiobook bc the kids are using my phone… lowkey appreciate it bc the author reads it and it feels too intimate. Like she’s whispering in my ear about sexuality and she’s 50 so I’m just like “oh okay… thanks” (YES I KNOW LET WOMEN EXPRESS THEMSELVES HOW EVER OLD THEY ARE BUT I JUST FEEL WEIRD)

I keep forgetting that this isn’t fiction, and when she names real life books and people I’m like surprised. I’ve never read a memoir before and it shows

this is just making me add more books to my TBR list… I’m not complaining but my wallet will. (I allow myself two book purchases before the year ends)

me listening to 1.5x and reading along. I should do this forever for all my hard to get into books (love u queen and I love the writing it’s just the beginning is hard to get into but it’s slayying)
