Either chapter 8 is highly questionable at best, or I am simply too dumb and unfit to handle the massive weight of public finance.

The rules and advice given in this book is pretty good, if a little obvious at times (though of course you could argue that common sense isn't really that common in real life). It's just that they are kind of hard to swallow when positive examples include the likes of Tony Blair, Shehbaz Sharif, Najib Razak, and Mitch Daniels.

Reading the part about privatization in 2024 really makes you wonder what Barber thinks of private prisons in the US and private water companies in the UK now, with hindsight and all that.
