Am rereading, and it's so much worse when you know what's coming. The rooftop scene is about to start and I'm almost ready to cry already.

I think this scene with Merritt is the most honest Chess has been with herself in ages. Also think it was probably the worst scene in the book. Uptil now that is.

Read the rooftop scene, wanted to scream at Moss and Laura. Reread the rooftop scene, am now all a puddle. Requesting Terrible Threesome membership card now...

Oh man, it's beyond tragic. I kinda want her to die so she can be free, only in this world death isn't a release but more like being stuck in the same stage forever and this is horrible.

Bump has just tripled his sleazyness and double tripled his douchebag ratio. And I'm not sure if Chess isn't objecting because Terrible isn't objecting or if she's talking herself into that's the reason and it's all the drugs. It's all so sad anyway.

"Addiction was a sensitive little plant; it needed privacy in which to grow" I love how Chess embraces her addiction. I want her to grow out of it, but as long as she is a junkie and hasn't hit rock bottom, I really like how she realizes how badly she's addicted and yet kinda likes that situation. She revels in her selfdistructiveness.

It's both awesome world building and scary/creepy that this Church created a Hell. Literal eternal punishment for your soul, how batshit do you have to be to create something like that?
