Read the chapter on Singapore'a education system. It felt strange to see statistics that compared it to Australian and American education landscapes. I think broad data doesn't capture human narratives and lives very well. I felt quite removed from the supposed narrative, though I was encouraged to take more interest in global perspectives on education, and be thankful of the lot of Singaporean teachers in comparison

It reads like a textbook. I think this is a good book to read for work. It gives me knowledge and discussion points to speak with my students about. :) it also makes me think on a broader and more global scale, about issues beyond my immediate concerns. I can see why reading does broaden our horizons.
