Finally, this book/series has me in that satisfying dreamlike fantasy-novel-reading state. Too bad it took over 1000 pages to get there, though.

I've caught up to where I got to before, which didn't take too long. I really wish this story would sit still for more than a few pages. Maybe now that Cat is in the Antilles that will happen.

Sexytimes! out of nowhere! But no more out of nowhere than any of the other stuff that's been going on. That said, it's nice that there's no shame or guilt involved on Cat's part, rather "That felt pretty good, let's do it again."

I ended up reading some reviews of this novel to see if it wasn't just me who thought these early chapters are near-incoherent. Apparently things settle down toward the middle. Good, since I was close to dropping it.

It's been two years since I read Cold Magic and I have little recollection of what's going on. We're hitting the ground running, literally, but why is Cat running, again? It's fine, I can skim some reviews of Cold Magic and/or look for hints seeded in as I go along.
