Things are getting interesting...
So, two days before Christmas, Eric uses the twenty bucks his dad gave him and bought 800 green, plastic soldiers that were each shooting a rifle to protect the rat. He goes down to the basement and puts the soldiers around the rat hole. Then, he gets a call from his dad. Turns out, Anje doesn't even work for the apartment management people.

From what I've read, an evident rivalry is forming between Anje and Eric 🤭.
"Just so's you don't misunderstand, the only thing I hate more than rats is traitors." - Anje
Personally, I can't tell who's in the wrong here. Eric keeps interfering with Anje's traps to get rid of the rat (taking his poison pellets and dumping them into an ash can), but Anje is standing to kill vermin that haven't harmed him.

So, from what I've read far, the book revolves around Eric Andrick, an eleven-year-old boy who's just got out of middle school for Christmas vacation. But, this Christmas vacation is a bummer, and leaving him bored out of his mind (friends out of town, busy helping family, or sick). When it's five days before Christmas, an exterminator arrives--Anjela "Anje" Gabrail. Eric and him launch opeation Eden Trap.
