This is good, but I am REALLY hoping we get to see a female mermaid at some point. The sexual dimorphism detail at the end of the last book was my favorite bit and dammit, I want my payoff

Mmkay I love the action and science and stuff but Olivia and Tory are very good. Nerdy, excitable science girl and nerdy, socially anxious cosplayer/show host? Good. I am completely on board with this

AND (at least I think it's going to happen) a lesbian relationship. I think this author must be scanning me specifically for my interests because this is so exact it's weird

This is such a niche book but honestly it's perfect. Horror? Yes. Deep sea? Yes. Science? Yes. Detailed and mostly accurate biology? Yes. I don't know how I managed to find such a perfect book for my interests.

Well, there's a lot of characters, but I think I'm keeping track fairly well. It's taking a little longer than I'd like for the action to get going, but there's been enough interesting character stuff and science stuff to keep me relatively interested

Alright so this dude showed up and I'm not sure who he is but he's my favorite. He literally just sits 100% still in an office so that the motion sensor lights go off and waits for the main character to show up so he can make a dramatic entrance.
