(continued) SO I googled it and found that Smith wrote (beautifully) this article a year ago called “The Fall of my Teen-Aged Self” that seemed to confirm my thoughts and told this story of how she accidentally fell out of a window and almost died AND that she had a classic teenage obsession with death AND that she channeled some of her teenage angst into white teeth! Interesting def worth considering a read

Definitely has gotten better as I read it, epic.

Also I’m only a 1/4 of the way through the book but I had started to feel like Smith had an almost obsession with suicide despite not depicting it in the most accurate manner (I’m not an expert but just seemed weird to me) so I had started to wonder if she had some other very strange connection with death that was not an actual intimate experience - p2 next sry
