Barely two chapters in and I am SO hooked. Known as the father of modern fantasy, George Macdonald was born 200 years ago and was a huge inspiration of CS Lewis. The imagery in the first two chapters is immaculate, and we have already met a fairy and had our washbasin transformed into a River and our rug into a glade of reeds. As a massive fantasy fan, I cannot believe I am just hearing if this book!
