Set on a work farm prison, the tale of a lifer and a young man sent up for manslaughter. The unusual friendship begins over the beautiful guitar the young prisoner brings with him as the reader is drawn into the narrative and the sway the music that he plays brings light and hope to the other prisoners. In the end, the boy is the user and leaves his friend behind in their daring escape.
