I shouldn’t care this much about side characters and yet, here we are

LIKE COME ON! BE SO FOR REAL RN! Is that not the best exchange ever written?? Idk man but it’s up there

Ifueko’s dialogue is so punchy and just perfect. She takes such complex subject matter and explores it so wholely. Every character’s motivations make sense, even if you disagree with them.
It might be too much for a YA book though. You have to really process these moral conflicts the characters are having to find where you stand which could be quite challenging for younger teens outside of a classroom setting.

“Why am I always so different?”
“For what it’s worth … you have always been my kind of different.”
“That’s only because you’re as strange as I am.”
