the timeline of this book is structured around 7 different rounds of mech battles, and this could easily have gotten boring and repetitive, but it’s NOT. each of the opponents is a unique, interesting, fully fleshed out character; different techniques are used in each fight; during each round we learn vital information about the world and the mechs! it’s masterfully written
