“it must be as if it were not” to describe both our knowledge/proximity about death and the slaughter systems that allow us to eat meat on a regular basis is a brilliant parallel.

i’m rereading this because i’m stuck in an urgent care and it’s still the perfect blend of funny, informative, and respectful. caitlin’s voice shines through even when she tells another person’s story. she’s a phenomenal storyteller and it shows.

damn, i think i’d really like to be donated to the FOREST project at the end of my life. hopefully not for another eighty years though haha

The first time I tried to read this book, it was an ebook and the illustrations got in the way of the words. So thankful my local library has a copy and I can finally enjoy it :)
