This book is basically Dune, but, get this--it's actually good.

I love that what makes Marak unique is his ability to resist the voices in his head better than anyone else with his madness.

Her writing is so atmospheric; every detail about the desert, the beshti, Marak's thoughts and visions, the culture, everything.

I love the premise of this book. Madmen and -women are being called across the desert with visions and sensations, and these very lowest dregs of society, these outcasts, are actually the key to saving this planet form imminent destruction.

It's kind of electrifying to follow a hero who has some ample rage in his past fueling him.

I'm excited to read my first C.J. Cherryh book. What a legend!
