Thoroughly sad tales of abuse. Currently going through the chapter of the crack addicted daughter. This character was born in the same year as me and yet her life sounds like something out of the 1950s. Different countries , different cultures but it's sitting awkwardly for me. Maybe all tales of abuse feel like they are from a more backward age?
