Recrudescence. The return of something terrible after a time of reprieve.
“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

That’s exactly right, Gandalf! And how much power and oxygen we will ( or will NOT ) give to someone who should be starved of both. He has got way too much of my time and energy. No more!

My friend (who later passed) used to talk about power leaks. Classic case. I regret all the power I gave up … and all the anger and hatred, which hurts me way more than IT. Smother and starve IT of oxygen is my motto. Hugs and love to you Lisa.
Lisa, a more perfect word couldn't be found to describe the return of IT. Thank you. I'm officially going into hibernation tonight at midnight and taking my books with me.

I did attend a Zoom Red, Wine and Blue meeting tonight with Heather Cox Richardson as the main guest and it was heartening and empowering but I plan to avoid all news tomorrow. I hope to be walking (or sleeping in) at 9 am.

Of course, we would wake up screaming.
Margie, They're a great group. I've been to several of their things but there are no groups right in my city and, even though they give tons of support, I'm not up for starting one. Heather Cox Richardson was their main guest today. It was so good.
Laura, P.S. Then again, it takes a certain amount of privilege to be able to not pay close attention, and I do not have that privilege. I don’t have to pay attention to the person, but I do have to pay attention to what exactly is going on, and I assume it will be a lot and will be often changing.
As a result of the horrific plane crash in D.C. this week, our new president "signed an executive order to stop 'woke policies' in federal aviation." That is a direct quote, from the AP."Woke policies in federal aviation?" I can't even. . .
They feel like dark days, for sure.I was at least *a little* empowered yesterday, by a phone call with a friend. She let me know which stores she is boycotting, and which she is supporting (those that are standing up for her beliefs). We are a country fueled by consumerism, so it's not a bad idea to feel at least somewhat empowered by where we choose to spend our money. Some companies have expressed some real courage, in opposing this tyranny.
