Not gonna lie. I am finding it hard to get through the rest of this book. It’s painfully bad and the main character is unbearable. How is this considered a romance novel? This book cares more about politics and race. Why is there such a huge deeper meaning that feels like a direct attack from the author to white readers? I’m annoyed, but let’s wrap this up.

Definitely enjoying the book more than I thought I would. The protagonist can be off-putting with her worldview but, I suppose this is a stereotypical black girl viewpoint. There is a lot of victimhood and she is determined to let the color of her skin be the factor of decision making. Besides these aspects, I am enjoying the developing romance.
