Part 1: First entry in the Death Egg saga. King Acorn is looking worse for wear while resting in Knothole Village. The Freedom Fighters theorize that he acclimated to living in the Zone of Silence, and the air on Mobius is causing him to be disoriented and his skin to crystallize. As a solution, they decide to try and use the power of rings to restore his condition, and the group splits into three teams.

Part 2: Sonic and Tails travel to the Lake of Rings where Sonic previously fought Knuckles. They see that the lake is covered with a metallic dome, and Sonic runs off to find answers. Tails stays behind and sees a giant tube from the sky suck rings out of the lake, and he’s sucked into it too.
