Ok, this is the one thing that has annoyed me in this series. In the first book, Detan walked the Black Wash with Ripka, and it was such an incredible and emotional scene. Except it turned out it was Pelkaia posing as Ripka! But for some reason the series always recalls that scene as if it were Ripka. I wish it had, in fact, been her. Apparently the author does too considering these lapses in recall.
