I started this book without any idea what it was about - my friend was into it, it was available on hoopla, so I checked it out and started it. I'm so glad I did. It is fascinating. Like time travel back to the 18th century - when women had babies every single year and a lot of them died. When women had to marry in order to survive. When you needed a dowry to get married. When chastity was the top priority.

I am really enjoying this quirky little read. I love Peg and her independent spirit. I'm currently on the chapter about "nymphs and impures" - these terms kill me, and I love how the narrator explains everything. "Buff to buff;" foundlings.... it's all great. I can't stop cracking up every time she casually uses the word "whore" - especially because of the "proper" tone to it all. What a fun read!
