Erin Hahn No research necessary. I've been preparing for this story my entire life. :) Since I was a little girl, I've kept notebooks of lyrics and playlists. As a teen, I binge-watched MTV and VH1 (back when they played music and shows like "Behind the Music") and lived next to my boombox. In order to write characters like Vada, Luke, Phil and Charlie, I needed to be an even bigger music nerd than they were. And believe me, I AM. Every song and music reference came straight from the source (ie: my brain).
Erin Hahn Sort of? I mean, the characters don't interact, but Annie Mathers is most definitely mentioned in MTM if you're paying attention... :)
Erin Hahn MORE THAN MAYBE is most definitely a romance. It stands alone, but my third novel out in 2021 is a spin off romance featuring Vada's best friend, Meg Hennessey.
Erin Hahn Hell yes I do. Her range is IN CRED I BLE. I think her first album is still my favorite, though she is consistently amazing! :)
Erin Hahn Ooooh. A forest in Canada sounds lovely. You can contact my publicists! Their email is on my website (erinphahn.com) for a possible copy and I will likely be running more giveaways (including international!) in the coming months as we creep closer to release!
Erin Hahn I actually DO NOT! Everyone else in my life does but I was too afraid to fall in love with it, binge watch it, and inevitably absorb it into my own story. So I haven’t dared yet. Perhaps after YBM is in its final print, I’ll finally feel safe to check it out. 😏
Erin Hahn I think I’m totally abnormal in that my best writing happens in the afternoon. I’m not much of a night owl and I like easing into my day. That said, I will write when I can. During the school year when I am teaching, I will work late to meet deadlines. It’s not my favorite but the work demands the time! :)
Erin Hahn I try to be! It’s important to me to be transparent with both the good and messy parts of me. 😍
Erin Hahn I read mostly YA and MG but I do like some adult. I’m certainly not opposed to adult fiction and would consider writing it if the story struck. As it is, I write upper YA so it’s not such a stretch to imagine!

My favorite genre to read might be fantasy. I’m in awe of the world building! If there’s a bit of romance, all the better!
Erin Hahn I did! I researched a lot about Country Music and Nashville and tour busses... every aspect, really. I became a country music encyclopedia for a while. 😍 I liked to watch footage of award shows, musician interviews and famous duets. I also studied song writing and the different pieces of performing live in effort to make the tour as realistic as possible!
Erin Hahn Oh. This is a good question! I don’t know! A lot of Annie’s songs had a sort of Miranda Lambert sound to them in my head and Clay was more Chris Stapleton.. but I’m not sure I’d want them to cover! I think I’d really love someone new and fresh out of Nashville only because that’s who the characters are! Two kids just starting out!
Erin Hahn You’d Be Mine is appropriate for upper YA readers. I would say 15-16yo+. There’s no on-page sex, but there is strong language and instances of underage drinking. These are 18 year olds on a country music tour. Thanks for checking!
Erin Hahn The original title was Under the Willows, based on Annie’s band name.

But it’s been You’d Be Mine since I first signed with Wednesday Books. I’m fairly confident it will remain. It’s the title of one of Annie’s songs (about Clay) and reflects a pivotal moment in the story.
Erin Hahn I’m the lyricist! I created brand new songs to reveal some of the inner workings of Annie and later Clay as they grow up in the industry.
Erin Hahn Great question! I draft sitting up in my bed. I don't know why, exactly. It's terrible on my back, but it's what I've done since before I had a desk and I would work along side my (then) toddler. I do all my revisions at my sturdy desk, though! I have a little tucked away corner all to myself that is perfect for focusing on words. :)
Erin Hahn Oh my word, that's a hard question! I don't even know. I think I'd probably want to have toured with Reba or Dolly during their peak popularity. They both seem down to earth and lovely while also being total shooting stars. I'd probably die of intimidation, but it would be worth it to see them perform up close and personal. :) I've tried my hardest to model my Annie after them.
Erin Hahn An obscene amount of research! I'm a life-long country music fan, but a fan does not an expert make. I spent hours watching old clips of classic artists starting with the Carter family and working my way up to the most recent country music awards. I read hundreds of interviews and even took virtual tours of different artist's busses and venues. Most everything made it into this book, or potentially future ones if they're in the cards, but I can say that most people would be surprised to learn that I actually arranged my tour dates after Luke Bryan's Kill the Lights tour a few summer's ago! I had my work cut out for me, manipulating the venues so that key elements of the story happened in cities I'd had the most personal experience visiting to make it authentic as possible.

Also, I think people would be surprised to read that I've never seen a single episode of "Nashville". That's one bit of research I skipped... :)
Erin Hahn I absolutely listen to music as I write. Actually, before I even put a word on the page, I meticulously build a playlist for each POV in my story! So for YOU’D BE MINE, both Clay and Annie have songs that bring me to their headspace. :) For Clay Coolidge, I listened to a lot of Chris Stapleton, Sam Hunt, Eric Church and Johnny Cash. For Annie Mathers, I went to the classics- Dolly, Reba, Loretta and June Carter Cash. I also listened to Miranda Lambert and the Pistol Annie’s. The basis of their love story came from the song “Burning House” by Cam.

Eventually, I will be posting a playlist on my website for those curious since Music is SUCH an enormous part of this book!
Erin Hahn Ummmm...

Maybe. Probably. BUT I deal strictly in HEA, so the plan is to have a giddy smile on your face by the end!
