Sherri Lupton Hollister I don’t think I want to switch with any of my characters. I have finally gotten my life balanced a bit, but the one that most resembles my own is Liz Harrell with her brood of children.
Sherri Lupton Hollister There is an unsolved murder I would love to investigate.
Sherri Lupton Hollister "Help me!" The words brought her out of sleep. Opening her eyes to a room filled with flames, her husband bravely battling the inferno.

This one is horrifying because it was real.
Sherri Lupton Hollister I think my husband and I would fit in real well in Sweetwater, NC. Donna Steele could write him as a mechanic shifter. I swear he's a werewolf but don't tell anyone.
I wouldn't mind going to Mystic Bayou but only if Molly Harper would give me some really cool power.
I would love to go to Victorian England or the Highlands of Scotland. I would have loved to have seen Hawaii or the West Coast before it became so touristy. Hollywood during it's early days.
Where would you like to go?
Sherri Lupton Hollister I have been listening to a lot of audiobooks this summer. I have also discovered some new authors. In no particular order here is my most recent reading list: Friends without Benefits and Beard Necessities by Penny Reid, You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria, Who Wants to Marry a Duke by Sabrina Jeffries, The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams, Lush Money by Angelina M. Lopez, Everything I Left Unsaid by Molly O'Keefe, Wired for Story by Lisa Cron, The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon, Romancing the Beat by Gwen Hayes, Irresistible Blurbs by Siri Caldwell, Relaunch Your Novel by Chris Fox, Southern Charmers by H C Bentley, Naughty Words for Nice Writers by Cara Bristol, Forbidden Promises by Synithia Williams, Lies You Tell by LaQuette, The Lighting Rod by C S Ratliff, Level Up by Alexa Sommers, Faerie's Heart by Tyler J E Simpson, The Witches Key by Sarra Cannon, and Chasing Fae by Cady Hammer. There are more I hope to read or listen to but these are the ones I'm committed to for now.
Sherri Lupton Hollister I don't really have writer's block, I mostly deal with a lack of time to write but if I'm working on a novel and the next part isn't coming out like I want, then I often go to the next scene I have in my head and come back to the difficult scene later. If I still cannot make it work then rereading what I wrote previously and seeing if I veered away from the story's main idea too much somewhere will often allow me to find the problem and put myself back on course.
Sherri Lupton Hollister Sharing my stories and finding readers who love them are priceless. A friend and fan told me she was going to name her cat after one of my characters, I cannot think of higher praise than that.
Sherri Lupton Hollister To be a good writer you must first be a good reader. Read everything you can. I don't have as much time to read books for pleasure anymore but I have discovered a love of audiobooks. I read or listen to books constantly. If I'm not reading or writing, I am listening to other authors on YouTube or taking online classes or attending writing workshops. With so much available online, keep learning but just write. Write as if no one is looking as if it is only for your pleasure, then go back and edit like you want to share it with your favorite author. Believe in yourself. Find your people, other writers and get encouraged by them.
Sherri Lupton Hollister I recently published Janie's Secrets which is part of my new series The Harrell Family Chronicles. Red Steel ended The Leeward files and started this new series. Janie's Secrets is the first book devoted to the Harrell Family drama.
My work in progress Roxy's Betrayal is the next in the series. Janie and Roxy sibling rivalry adds to the family drama when the family is betrayed by more secrets and blackmail.
Sherri Lupton Hollister I take a lot of online writing classes, read a lot of books, watch movies, listen to the news, talk to people and listen to their stories. Inspiration is all around us, the difficult part is choosing what blends together to make an interesting story.
My stories are set in a town similar to where I live, some days I just walk or drive around town to get inspired or get immersed in the feel of my story.
Sherri Lupton Hollister Red Steel was influenced by my youngest son, a volunteer firefighter and his wife, a photographer. They have allowed me to use their photos in several of my promos. My son spoke to my writers' group about being a firefighter and first-responder. Because we are from a small town he has been able to take advantage of training that in a larger city he would have had to chose a specialty. He is a rescue diver, swimmer, firefighter and first-responder, he is even part of our local land and sea search and rescue teams. I'm very proud. His wife is a stay at home mom and photographer. She has a real eye with the camera. My author photo and a couple of my covers are thanks to her.
All of my books are influenced by the people, places and events around me.
