Gary Corby I'm working on it right now!
Gary Corby On the controversial, I don't know, but I suspect it was academic jealousy from rivals. Happens all the time in universities to this day.

The appointment can't be a job for Nico & Diotima though, unfortunately. At that date Nico would have been about 180 years old.
Gary Corby The standard ratio was 3 water for 1 wine. The Greeks thought that only the deeply uncultured would drink unwatered wine. Of course, ancient wine was nothing like ours, so it's impossible to know how the taste worked out.
Gary Corby Hi! I'm glad you like the books. I have another (contemporary) project underway at the moment, then I'm back to Nico & Diotima.

It depends what you mean by Greek setting. Nico & Diotima traveled to Egypt and Libya in The Singer From Memphis. So that's not Greek, but it's obviously the same time period.

There are a whole lot of other places Nico & Diotima could (and will) end up. The ancient Greeks made it to some pretty interesting locales. But I won't be doing another ancient series outside this timeline. Classical Greece is more than enough for one writer.

Ancient mysteries are their own little genre and there are a slew of writers working in ancient Rome, for example. If you like my stuff, try Ruth Downey for Roman Britain.

Thanks for asking!

Gary Corby Hi Carolynn,

I'm glad you like the books.

Sorry for the slow reply. It's because I don't know the answer to your question. I passed it on to those who look after rights sales, but I think Thanksgiving might be delaying a reply.

The general answer to your question is that the publisher usually buys electronic and audio rights along with print. The publisher's rights department then sells audio rights to a specialist, which in my case would usually be Audible. Why that wasn't done with The Singer From Memphis I can't explain.

Stay tuned and I'll let you know when I find out, and thanks for asking.

Regards
Gary
Gary Corby Hi Selle. There will be more books. I'm currently working on a project outside the series, but I definitely know what happens next in the lives of Nico & Diotima and their tale will be told.

It's kind of you to ask. You might be interested to know that when I was writing Book 3, Sacred Games, it wasn't certain that the series would continue, and in fact I had loosely assumed from the beginning that this would be a trilogy. That's why the final scene of Sacred Games could be read as a completion.

It was while I was editing Sacred Games that the publisher asked for more books. So here we are at Book 7, and the end is not in sight.

Gary Corby Michael Moorcock once dedicated a book with these words: "To my creditors, who remain an eternal source of inspiration."

Luckily for me, I am much more motivated by the chance to tell stories that have yet to be told. There's nothing more inspirational than a blank page.
