Rachael Waechter Hi Adir! I really enjoyed working with Defiance Press. They're expanding their work into the fiction sphere and I was one of the early authors in that effort. Their staff members are so supportive and their editors do a great job. They did all my copyediting and we had a lot of back and forth in finalizing my manuscript. They also did all the design work for the book. Both traditional publishing deals and partner publishing deals allow you to work with the editors and designers. I would definitely recommend sending the manuscript their way!
Rachael Waechter I live a very busy, often very stressful life between work and other obligations. I truly have fun while I'm writing. It helps me take a break and express my thoughts in a creative way. Plus, my head is overflowing with random ideas. Writing allows me to put those ideas to good use.
Rachael Waechter Inspiration comes in many forms. Sometimes it's a mood I'm feeling, sometimes it's a one-liner that comes to me in the middle of the day. If I feel the spark, I try to sit and write something down before I lose it.
Rachael Waechter Currently writing the sequel to my first novel, "Playing with Fire!"
Rachael Waechter Just do it! Think of how many wonderful books would be on the shelf if more aspiring authors just took that leap of faith? Don't give into the self-doubt. Anyone can write if they're willing to put in the work.
Rachael Waechter I know it's unnatural, but I jump around as I write, skipping to write chapters that fit my mood or my current headspace. If I'm hitting a block on a part of the plot but know where I want the story to end up, I jump ahead and then backfill once I have the spark of inspiration I need to fill in the blanks.
Rachael Waechter It's funny because I'm not sure I've ever read a superhero novel before! In fact, I'm not even really into the genre generally. This idea struck me as a flashback from a game my sisters and I played as children. I also knew I really wanted to write an adventure with lots of twists and turns. This story just kind of fell into place!
