Aprille Legacy Hey! I know :) I'll pop the plain WordPress one up again. The site's still there, just under aprillelegacy.wordpress.com
Aprille Legacy Hey! My advice is just to read and write as much as possible. Write even if it doesn't contribute to anything. Keeping a diary/journal is a great way to keep your skills sharp while developing new observational techniques.

And get out and experience the world! Travel is the best way to broaden your horizons. Get out there and soak up what our gorgeous planet has to offer :)
Aprille Legacy I'm a self-published author, which means I do everything myself :)
Aprille Legacy Two things:
- Read heaps, and read everything. You'll pick up lots of different things if you read a variety of genres.

- Just write. A lot of people tell me they 'don't have time to write' or 'they'll do it one day'. That doesn't get a book written; those are excuses. What does get a book finished is sitting down and putting pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. It can be tough to get started but any writing is good writing.
Trust me, haha.

Hope that helps!
Aprille Legacy Looking at early-mid 2015. I'm really hesitant to set a release date without the first draft being completed, but I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I do ;)
Aprille Legacy Well, currently I'm writing Soul Inferno, I also have a steampunk novel that's about 70% complete pending editing, and I've just started on a new secret project that will spawn sequels.

I also won't rule out the possibility of Soul spinoffs ;)
Aprille Legacy It changes ALL the time. More often than not I'm surprised how it ends, or where I find it turning. Keeps things interesting :) For example, I've known for about six years how the Soul Trilogy will end, but I wouldn't be surprised if it changed whilst actually writing it.
Aprille Legacy The first chapter and a bit. I've been more planning how this is all going to play out. Lots of... uh... shall we say, tension? ;)
Aprille Legacy Scene lists really help me. Laying out the scenes as you feel they should happen in the book and then writing a short paragraph summarising what happens during that scene. I find this is also good for setting out your novel and getting a sneak peek of what the pacing will look like and if it's suitable.
Aprille Legacy Feeling the thrill of a scene laid out well, or pulling off something you feel meets your own standards. Writing so fast and furiously that you know you're making mistakes but you don't care because you're writing 'in the moment' as things happen in the book and you're as much in the plot as your character.
Aprille Legacy Write. Write short stories and novels til your fingers bleed, until you don't have fingerprints anymore.

Any kind of prose requires editing and feedback. Seek them out, learn from them, feel the sting of knowing you could do better, then do it. It took me three books to really start feeling like I was a halfway decent writer.

In conclusion,
write, write, write
Aprille Legacy I'm currently working on a project that I won't divulge too much about just yet, as I myself don't really know what's going on. It's an unfamiliar experience but I'm enjoying the journey.
Aprille Legacy Music is my main inspiration. I love instrumentals and soundtracks. That and a stick of incense will result in a few thousand words. Throw a cup of tea into the mix and I'll be writing til the cows come home.
Aprille Legacy The book I'm writing at the moment put itself together gradually, so I'm not too sure where the idea came from. It has already come a long way and it's still in its baby steps so I'm not too sure what it'll end up as!
