No, I don't write horror, but I've killed a few spiders in my day. That being said, check out the new mystery series, "Georgia Peaches." Contemporary Christian Fiction with suspense, mystery, sweet romance, and faith-inspired stories.

Don't give up, find an editor and a proofer, use a professional cover artist, offer to exchange manuscripts with a trusted, seasoned author for critiques and editing suggestions. Read as many books as you can. Keep brushing up on grammar skills. Don't publish without purpose. Have a sound, preferably Biblical, theme. At the end of the day, only what is built on the Lord will stand. Keep it fun! Take lots of breaks. Be organized. Keep deadlines and a calendar of what's to be done each day. Have daily word count goals. Surround yourself with other great inspirational authors. Attend some writer conventions and classes to help you grow as a writer.

I'd go to the end of Jane Austen's "Pride & Prejudice" as Elizabeth Bennet marrying Darcy, or perhaps the "Anne of Green Gables" series. I'd be Anne married to Gilbert in "Rainbow Valley."

I'm working on a massive TBR pile, but definitely something from Becky Wade and Susan May Warren.

I think about writing fun, unusual scenes in my writing. Sometimes, when I'm stuck, I pray through it for an idea or I'll have an emergency plotting discussion with my husband. He's very supportive and often surprises me with his flow of ideas. I also keep notebooks where I jot down ideas for book plots and ideas. I'm trying to get better at keeping ideas all in one place. For some reason, that's really hard for me. If I could stop misplacing these notes among the piles of notebooks on my desk...

I have four favorite fictional couples. I love Laura and Almanzo from the "Little House" books. I like that she called him Manly and stood up to him about the terms of their courtship. I'm thinking of that scene where she said he needn't come pick her up if he was planning on bringing Nellie along. The very next week he left Nellie at home from that point on. Laura finally knew where his heart stood. I also like that he eventually built her another home at Rocky Ridge after the challenges they faced in the early years.
My next favorite couple is Anne and Gilbert from "Anne of Green Gables!" I like that she didn't like him at first but that the relationship blossomed into the story of Rainbow Valley. I love that he didn't give up on her and that they both had time to pursue college and some of their dreams before they married. I love that they overcame so many challenges to be together and that they faced heartache together. They were truly childhood sweethearts.
I can't leave out Darcy & Elizabeth. They had so much to discover and wade through as a couple. Somehow they both came to their senses in spite of their pride and prejudices.
Finally, I really admire Rhett & Scarlett. I like her spunk and determination. I like Rhett's deep love for her and that in the sequel to "Gone With the Wind," their love finally came together, though we had to wait forever to find out. This couple infuriated me for the longest time, but they have remained a favorite for me.

I'm currently writing a pre-Civil War Era Christian Romance with a Kentucky setting, "Protecting Miss Jenna: Dream Wildly Unafraid." As a Kentucky author, I can't overlook the opportunity to research and write about the issues of that day with all of this history right here all around me. The tension in this state was really building during this time period. Kentucky had it all going on! They had slaves, abolitionists and slave owners all living right here. Slave auctions in Lexington and Louisville were common. Many escaped across the Ohio River, calling it their Jordan crossing.
It is no surprise that a Kentuckian known as Abraham Lincoln left us such an incredible legacy in the plight and struggle of the suffering. I'm excited to let readers know that "Protecting Miss Jenna" is available for pre-order right now (my first pre-order) at Amazon and launches November 21, 2015! Readers will love the excitement of all of this tension as they sink their teeth into this rich historical romance meant to inspire and delight readers.

Recently my mom came to live near me in Kentucky from another state. It has really been awesome to have this time to reconnect with her and to see her getting to know her grandchildren. This event really seemed to inspire me as I wrote this story. Family relationships are so important. I wanted this book to reflect kindness, love, forgiveness, restoration and redemption... all themes which are so vital in our lives and relationships. In the real story of Ruth and Boaz, every single character behaved with kindness toward each other. I wrote this book with all of this deeply on my heart and mind. Kindness is something hard to find but we know from reading God's word that it is of great value in His eyes. It is terribly overlooked and underestimated in our busy, fast paced and modern lives. It starts with each of us, in our very own homes and in the lives of those we connect with on a daily basis within our community.
