Avril Tremayne Thanks so much for the question and the kind words! There is one more book in the series and that is Teague's story, Getting Naughty, which is out in late January/February 1 depending on where you live. I really would love to write a story for Artie, and I think also one for Scarlett (Veronica's sister from Getting Even) but I can't say when for those ones.
Avril Tremayne Oooh, this is such a great question. I feel like my life is full of mysteries - but I still have to protect the innocent so I can't divulge them. Still, I guess I'd go with a little family saga - a young impressionable girl arrives in Australia from London in the 1920s, meets a wealthy young man when she's employed at his family home, falls pregnant and gives the baby up for adoption... If I were to use that true history as the basis for a novel, I'd start with the descendants of the woman's 'legitimate' and 'illegitimate' offspring being called to a will reading ...
Avril Tremayne Definitely Jane Eyre and Mr Rochester. I read Jane Eyre as a teenager and fell in love both of them - and in fact, the plain Jane trope remains a favourite of mine to this day. The power and passion of their love set me on the path to becoming a romance author.
Avril Tremayne That is so wonderful! You have made me day. It's a weird thing to say but at first I wasn't so sure I was going to like Nick. Boy, did I surprise myself by falling like a ton of bricks. I was really hoping people would love him as much as I do. I've loved writing all my books, but this one is very special to me.
Avril Tremayne I don't really suffer from writer's block. If I get stuck at a place in a story, I just keep going, knowing I can come back and fix or change or delete it.
Avril Tremayne Aside from working in my pyjamas - it's just very satisfying. I love reading - always have - and I love words. Finding the write words to tell a story can be hard work, but when you get it right, it is a wonderful feeling. I try to make every word the absolutely perfect choice, and agonise over the flow of my work, until I love the end result.
Avril Tremayne My advice is always the same: write, write, keep writing. The more you write, the better you get.
Avril Tremayne I've just finished the second book in The Contract series. It's a standalone book, as are all my books, but featured tow of the secondary characters from The Contract. It's a very funny story but quite heart-wrenching at times. I'm hoping that may be out some time in 2016. And I'm just about to start work on my ninth novel, which I'm really excited about. It's set on Los Angeles, and is based around a very strange arranged marriage.
Avril Tremayne I get inspiration from all over the place. Conversations I overhear, news stories I read, talking to friends, things that have happened to me or people I know. The idea for my book The Contract, came about because an old work colleague - an economist - joked that I should make one of my heroes an economist like him. I twisted it around to make the heroine an economist, and the story evolved just from that.
Avril Tremayne My most recent book - not yet published - came about because I developed a crush on a British actor! I'm not prone to crushes, so it took me by surprise. And that started me thinking that it would be fun to use that idea for a heroine. All my stories start with just one idea, and then build from that.
