Yesterday, you shot a serial killer who was targeting your family and believed all of you to be safe. Today you found out, too late, that his spirit possessed your body.

It must have been a little too blistering for Amazon. I noticed they removed it. I'm guessing the author reported me or something. Some people can't take criticism.
There's not one genre I don't enjoy, at least a little. My least favorite is probably science fiction, but I still read it from time to time. I don't really review much anymore, unless I really feel I have something to say.

He is one of many, many influences. I love his work. I tried to write like him once, in my short story "Mr. Meeker" and even though I like the story, I don't believe I came close to writing like Vonnegut. The story still reads too much like my own writing. I've stopped making attempts to write like my heroes.
"Breakfast of Champions" is probably my favorite of his books.

No, I didn't. I went to Iowa State University, which was good, but if I could do it all over again, I'd shoot for U of I.

Most of the books I read are set in "worlds" that are so much like the real world, I don't see the point. And no fantasy or sci-fi world has ever seemed appealing to me. There's usually too much corruption and war and stuff. We get enough of that in the real world.

As for reading, I don't keep a list. I just pick up the Kindle and skim for whatever looks interesting or whatever I've started that I'd like to finish. Riley Amos Westbrook's "Everyone Dies At The End" is one I would like to finish. Aside from that, I do not know.
I have been listening to some of my favorite novels on CD in my car. I recently listened to Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle. Currently I'm listening to Joseph Heller's Catch-22 with John Irving's A Prayer For Owen Meany next and probably William Golding's The Lord of the Flies after that.
I guess I should mention that I'm also proofreading and editing my second novel, Suckers & Rogues and hope to have it out by the end of the summer.

This is a good prompt. I think, one day, I will do a book of flash fiction, giving adventures to all the socks I've lost in the laundry.

Everywhere and everything. Life experience and stories, people I know, people I've known, books I've read, TV shows, movies, songs... there's so many things in the world that can inspire a story. If you see a basketball laying on the side of the road, ask yourself how it got there? Whose is it? Why is it here, so far from a basketball hoop? When you listen to a song, think about how it might effect other people. Think about your life and any and all adventures you have had and see if there aren't some you can turn into a story. The story needn't be completely true or false. No matter where you are or what you are doing, store things away in your mind and let them cook. Soon you will have a head full of story ideas. I never lack for inspiration, only the time to get them all written.

No. Of course not. I am working on that every day.
Pat, since you asked this publicly and it seems you're asking because I removed a bit of your spam from a group I moderate, let me pass on some advice.
If you want to get noticed, you are not going about it the best way. Set up a real author account on Goodreads, with links to your books, an author photo, etc.
Join groups that are appropriate and get to know the members. Mingle a bit, help out other members. Do not join every group you see just to post the same spammy message about your book as you are doing. It could get you noticed, but more than likely you're just going to piss off people who are tired of authors constantly shoving their books at every turn.

Great Sandi, now I have to buy it after your reading post and seeing the reviews. Could use a good laugh these days...

I generally buy my ideas online at eBay. You can find pretty much anything there, if you know how to look.

By living. Just going about life makes me want to write. I'm constantly bombarded with ideas for stories or ways that I could improve stuff I'm working on.

Staying awake. I have coffee pumping into me intravenously and have a dozen sumo wrestlers lined up to slap me, one every five seconds.

There should be no such thing as aspiring writers. Either you're a writer or you're not. If you're not and you want to be, sit down and write something. Now you're a writer.

The kinds of books I have always wanted to read are finally becoming available.

I think writer's block often comes from authors having self-doubt or questioning their talent or the direction of their work. Maybe you're not the best writer ever, but your work is unique and a part of you. Embrace it and believe in it. Writer's block will melt away.
