A jack of all genres and Master of None, I like to dabble in writing most anything that suits my current fancy.

'Though I've been writing since age eleven, I hadn't bothered to publish anything until a few years ago, starting with my short story Old Pops' Last Beer. Since that time I've put out a few dozen short stories, along with a few novellas.

I consider my first published novel, Rave On to be a fiftieth birthday present to myself, having shoved it into the public eye on that semicentennial landmark. I often refer to it as a "magical, musical, romance". It's a story of what happens when a rockabilly singer from Iowa meets a mysterious magician from Romania.

My second novel is Suckers & Rogues, a coming-of-age saga set in the mid-eighties

Pat, since you asked this publicly and it seems you're asking because I removed a bit of your spam from a group I moderate, let me pass on some advice.

If you want to get noticed, you are not going about it the best way. Set up a real author account on Goodreads, with links to your books, an author photo, etc.

Join groups that are appropriate and get to know the members. Mingle a bit, help out other members. Do not join every group you see just to post the same spammy message about your book as you are doing. It could get you noticed, but more than likely you're just going to piss off people who are tired of authors constantly shoving their books at every turn. (less)

I just pick up the Kindle and skim for whatever looks interesting or whatever I've started that I'd like to finish. Riley Amos Westbrook's "Everyone Dies At The End" is one I would like to finish. Aside from that, I do not know.

I have been listening to some of my favorite novels on CD in my car. I recently listened to Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle. Currently I'm listening to Joseph Heller's Catch-22 with John Irving's A Prayer For Owen Meany next and probably William Golding's The Lord of the Flies after that.

I guess I should mention that I'm also proofreading and editing my second novel, Suckers & Rogues and hope to have it out by the end of the summer. (less)

Are You A Frustrated Writer? Perhaps You're Trying Too Hard

I find myself distressed right now. Nothing is seriously wrong in my own life, but it's this overwhelming empathy I feel toward some other writers. I've been seeing a lot of writers here and there today stating that they're frustrated, angry, throwing things, crying... all due to being a writer.

Why?

I really don't know. I will never claim to be the greatest writer, but at times like this I feel as Read more of this blog post »

“You should edit before and after editing.”
Dwayne Fry

“there is, indeed, a heaven but he said hell does not exist. According to Ezra, when one dies, they have a choice of remaining on earth as a ghost, being reincarnated or going to heaven. Ezra said that heaven is not the perfect paradise we mortals believe it to be but he said it is a wonderful place where you will be able to do everything you enjoyed in life. Ezra said that God does exist and is not the angry, vengeful”
