Matt Cary Williams is a self-published British novelist, lyricist, poet and short story writer. C Williams has currently released one novel titled, ‘Sket City’ with the sequel, ‘Stabhouse’ on its way. Right now he is working on his third novel, dabbling with a theme of insanity and playing the horror and romance genres to his favour.

From a young age Matt was a creative spirit, falling in love with painting early on; something vastly encouraged by his artistic grandmother. His parents divorced when he was three, but unlike most children stuck in the middle of crumbling marriage, he felt unaffected. Money was always tight but his childhood was good, and despite accidentally watching a pornographic movie aged four, this only ignited questions into the unusual, and leading an inquiry to the seedier cracks of life. A fascination with the strange, weird and unusual was always present, and at age thirteen, Matt began heading down the road to addiction. Here began the start of a ten year long exploit into the expansion and destruction of the mind. But after countless sleepless nights, filthy hangovers, clogged nasal passages and endless parties, the lifestyle he lived began to take its toll. And with friends passing away, or coming close to death from drug abuse, the environment he was surrounded in began to eat him up inside. Matt took to writing; his aim was just to shed some light on the matter.

The street, squat scene and intensity of the maniacal lifestyle lived, imbued his lyricist nature, eventually advancing scathing and searing hiphop bars into lengthier prose, to comprise his first novel. Matt’s writing thumps down heavy-laden issues with no holds barred, yet delicately laces them with meaningful relationships and purposeful undertones. He rides his writing with thrilling adventure akin to the fast-paced lifestyle he’s lived and has a confident flair of flecking his work with acerbic wit, ensuring a compelling momentum through even the most raucous of scenes.

'There were no clinics here in Sket City! No doctors, no advice to be called upon, no help whatsoever they could summon or count on. Very few citizens belonged to one of the even fewer self-help groups – including the crew. Iggy’s mother had been forced to prostitute herself to get some quack medication for his anxiety condition. So, what were any of them to do? Stop taking drugs altogether? Attempt somehow to rid their systems of the poisons and live a clean, healthy lifestyle in the depraved, drug-ridden, run-down environment they were inextricably bound up to and trapped in? Or could they become some sort of Canadian Mounties or Pony Express carrying messages around about it? Preachers? There was no longer a Salvation Army here, not even Jehovah’s Witnesses! They had long ago been either assaulted and forcibly drugged up, or removed altogether.'
