From her earliest years, Inis L. Fal inherited a love of history and storytelling. When she was seventeen she began writing her first book, When the Lion Roars, completing it three years later. In addition to writing and historical research, she studies foreign languages and archaeology, plays the ancient Armenian duduk, weaves pine needle baskets and tends her rural mountain farm.

She also enjoys spinning, carving, tanning, hiking, swimming, and of course...reading!...among her many other projects. She also helps fellow authors with editing and translation projects (see her blog postings!).

...and she has recently added Viking broadsword practice to her ever-expanding list of crazy skills and hobbies!

Hi cousin Willie twice removed!
My mom has mentioned some pretty great memories about when she visited the farm back in the day...something about a certain cousin slipping in chicken manure before going to church?!! (and in his church clothes!) Anyway, it is a mighty great pleasure to "meet" you! Congratulations on your daughter's wedding, and I'm so pleased that my book "struck your fancy!"

I'm working on writing book number two...but you might have to wait a little while! I'm just wrapping up chapter three, in-between shepherding sheep, goats, cows, chickens, ducks, etc. (In answer to your question, I don't do a whole lot of running...more like CHASING! It keeps me plenty fit! Believe me!)
Thanks so much for being the first person to post a question to me here on goodreads! I was thrilled! And please tell great aunt Dorothy she's the best, and I really appreciate her handing out all those bookmarks! God bless 'er!
Take care, and my best to your family!
Sincerely,
Inis L. Fal!!!!

Inis Fal answered Goodreads's question:
At one time, it would have been Dinotopia (I know right? Waaaay outdated). But I still wouldn't mind riding a Night Fury (same story? Or am I confusing two different plots? 🤣)

“It's a special and wonderful thing to have a bond with an animal...any animal...and one that not just anyone can experience or even recognize for what it is. Having been raised with animals all of my life, I can appreciate how much animals become a part of your family, and how blessed you know you are to have them in your life, how much they teach you and how much they give you...unconditional love, trust, loyalty...and a great deal of humor along the way. And if the day does come when you have to say goodbye, you shed a great many tears, but you always have a window in your mind, a memory engraved on your heart that will never leave you as long as you live...you know your life has been forever changed for the better, and you are grateful to that animal...or animals...for the precious gift that they gave you. And, it gives you a sense of comfort to remember, that that animal's life was also touched by the companionship, love and security that you gave to them all of their lives. Animals are far smarter than we give them credit for. Believe me...they love and cherish you as much as you do them.”

“...Jesse dropped his sword into the sand with a clunk. The others stared in bewilderment, as he lifted the great helmet from off his head, tossing it down beside his sword. Then, with a lunge Jesse turned and sprinted past the group, directly into the path of the oncoming lion. "Jess, NO!!" Tanya shrieked...

“If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans.”
James Herriot , All Creatures Great and Small

“A farmer once told me one of the greatest luxuries of his life was to wake up early only to go back to sleep again.”
James Herriot

“But Siegfried held up a restraining hand. “Just one moment,” he slurred. “The windscreen is very dirty. I’ll give it a rub for you.” The ladies watched him silently as he weaved round to the back of the car and began to rummage in the boot. The love light had died from their eyes. I don’t know why he took the trouble; possibly it was because, through the whisky mists, he felt he must re-establish himself as a competent and helpful member of the party. But the effort fell flat; the effect was entirely spoiled. He was polishing the glass with a dead hen.”
James Herriot, All Creatures Great and Small
