Hello there! I'm mainly preoccupied with the question 'If Darth Vader and Dracula were fighting each other, who would win?' When not pondering said question, I bend my mind to writing gothic fantasy. It keeps me off the streets, but often gets me into trouble.

Praise for A J Dalton's writing:
SFX - ‘Empire Of The Saviours gives you an interesting setting and a devilishly good villain’
SciFi Now magazine - ‘Engaging, filled with sacrifice, adventure and some very bloody battles!’
Waterstones central buyer - ‘The best young British fantasy author on the circuit at the moment’
Sfbook.com - ‘Different, fresh and unique’

Best-selling author with Gollancz - Empire of the Saviours, Gateway of the Saviours, Tithe of the Saviours.

It's being published with Kristell Ink (nice people) and due out in April 2017. At around the same time, I've got 'The history and emerging sub-genres of British fantasy' coming out with Lunda Press Publishing. For more up-to-date info, you may want to check out www.ajdalton.eu. Hi there, Reno
Pointers? Well, there's a fair bit on my website www.ajdalton.eu. Character & plot: your protagonist needs to start with a moral dilemma. In trying to solve their problem, they make the wrong decision and have to deal with the negative result. In trying to correct themselves, they should then face a similar dilemma and, this time, having learned from their previous mistake, they make the right decision and are rewarded with a positive outcome. Writing style: the big thing is to avoid changing narrative perspective within a scene. If you're not sure about narrative perspective issues, read my essay in 'The Art of the Novel' by Salt Publishing. Good luck! Adam PS - read lots of fantasy too(less)

“Places are people as well as rocks, trees and buildings. Places are moments in time.”
A.J. Dalton, Empire of the Saviours

“Why were there no words that spoke positively about being concerned about the self? Why was there only negative connotation in terms like "selfish", "self-interested", "self-centred", "self-obsessed" and so on? Why was it so much better to be without a self: "selfless", "self-sacrificing", "self-effacing", etc?”
A.J. Dalton, Necromancer's Gambit

“Writing is like a lump of coal. Put it under enough pressure and polish it enough and you might just end up with a diamond. Otherwise, you can burn it to keep warm.”

Why you? I'm a fan of similar books to you. You don't have to read one of my tomes, but if you insist, then Empire of the Saviours rocks.

Cool! It's a classic. Probably dates a bit nowadays.
