Don't start your day scrolling through email! Start by creating something. Place something in the world that wasn't there before you started your day. If I waited for the right words to come to mind I would likely still be working on my 2nd book. I am currently writing my SIXTH book. (and have a good bit already written on 3 or 4 other books. WRITE! Also, I find that reading a few pages, a chapter, from an inspiring book ALWAYS gets my mind working on my own words & thoughts. (Try: Madeleine L'Engle's "Walking On Water"; "Juicy Pens, Thirsty Paper" by SARK; "Wild Mind" by Natalie Goldberg. There are many more that inspire me. The preocess of crafting a well turned phrase, an insiring praragrph, a chapter the engages the reader ... using the best parts of me to encourage that in others. I have a long background in theatre (actor, director, playwright, designer, and educator.) It is a world where almost anyone can find and opportunity for their creative expression. Theatre is for storytellers. I write in a "conversational voice" and so I approach craftoing my books with a sense of strorytelling and performance ... and all my books contasin my own illustrations. I don't see that changing any time soon.(less)
