End of September Updates/ News. A very auspicious time!
Hello everyone we have a lot to report for September. It is very exciting and I know it is the end of September but there is a lot coming up. I have finally set up the giveaway for "Her Blackened Soul" on Goodreads. This is going to be very exciting because it is open to USA as well, whereas last time, it was just UK and Europe and it is for two signed copies of the book, which is very exciting! You can find the giveaway here, https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh... it's not going to be live until September 29th but that's only a day away.
I am also in the process of getting very close to finishing the sequel to "Her Blackened Soul" and this one is named "Her Blackened Heart" so hopefully by November, I will be sending that to my editor and ready to release that one as well.
In the meantime we have beautiful autumn, known in the USA as fall and it is such a magickal and auspicious time, as the leaves change colour and then fall and the season gets us ready for the coming winter as everything is crisp and colourful. Think of warm bonfires, cold nights, long hoodies and endless hugs. Lots of very happy things.
Of course in October, we have Halloween, known as Samhain, on October 31st, which is the one day of the year where those who have passed on, our ancestors, can return to us. It is also a perfect time for rituals to bring about change, transformation and for bringing wishes to fruition. I will post a blog about Halloween traditions and spells, just before Halloween occurs for those who may be interested in witchy pursuits but simply may not know much about it.
I also hope to be able to keep up with my twitter and blog posting during this time, which has been a little disrupted by my health in recent months but I am happy to say, is a lot better now so I am looking forward to better and brighter things ahead.
If there is anything you would like to ask me or ask me to feature on my blog, don't hesitate to contact me on twitter @israsravenheart, you can also email me at israsravenheart@gmail.com, or you can contact me on Facebook on my Author Isra Sravenheart page and you can also find me on LinkedIn as Isra Sravenheart as well.
I have much to do, but I just wanted to touch base with you all and let you know some of the awesome things I will be doing over the coming weeks. :)
Until next time. Isra xxx

Reasons to write?
Hello everyone, I didn't plan this blog today, however this is something that does crop up, especially with me and that is "reasons to write".
What are your reasons to write? What motivates you? What inspires you? What keeps the words flowing from the keys/ pen to paper/ word document? What keeps you going when you feel like giving up? Let's explore this.
My reasons to write are as follows:
1.I love writing.
2. I enjoy seeing my work in print with my name above it.
3. I find happiness and enjoyment in writing my stories and this in turn also motivates me.
4. My writing is a calling, not a job.
5. I feel strongly that my character's stories need telling.
6. I WANT to write.
Now what motivates you? All of us are motivated to do something in life. Motivation is a strong thing, it keeps us focused and guided by this feeling that we are doing something worthwhile that will bring us to greatness.
Here are my motivations:
1. I don't like being bored and creativity stimulates me and that alone is motivation.
2. Not wanting to be like anyone else. (This is kinda egosticial some say, but I pride myself on the fact I am different.)
3. Nature and the Universe.
4. My loved ones.
5. Seeing that people love my writing/ novels.
6. Hearing that somebody has bought a copy of my novel.
7. Hearing congratulations on your latest book!
Inspiration and motivation are different things, so before I list my inspirations and what inspires me, let's look at what inspirations are.
Inspiration is something that comes in the form of an idea, a few words, an image, maybe visual with sounds and images so clear, it may like watching a film. People may inspire you, as well as places, thoughts and things.
My inspirations. What inspires me:
1. Love. This may sound cliche, but it's up there for me!
2. Nature.
3. Weather. Especially Thunder and Lightning, this is something that definitely inspires me.
4. Kind words from strangers.
5. The beauty of the world, that is our universe.
6. The magick in everyday day life.
7. Positive Quotes.
8. Human beings that I may know/ or encounter. (Some people have ended up in my stories and have no idea) :P
9. General occurrences in every day life. (This may sound mundane and boring but I observe, and when I observe, I see.)
What keeps the words flowing? Now this is a big one for many of us. Not many of us would like to admit it, but at some point, we ALL suffer from the good old demon writer's block! It happens. It is life. It is something that sometimes we simply can't avoid, but the real question is how you do you keep things flowing when everything seems dry? What brings the words to the screen/ the paper? What can you do to keep them flowing when all seems lost? You're typing the words but yet you feel like they don't fit in with the story or maybe you feel like they are meaningless and are ready to hit the delete button!
Here are my ways to keep the words flowing:
1. Re-read what I last wrote. So in this case I would re-read the last 5-8 pages that I last wrote.
2. Read them about 5 times.
3. Take a moment to stop and think about where the story is going.
4. Think about where you want it to go.
5. Browse positive quotes on google.
6. Take a break. Stop what you are doing, do something else, then come back to it!
7. Envision your scenes as if they are actually happening. (Imagination is a big part in writing)
Now for the last part, what keeps you going when you feel like giving up? What is going to be the crucial moment that stops you from giving up and keeps you going? What is going to stop you from saying, "This is a complete waste of time. I give up!" ? What thoughts are going to keep you focused and motivated? I know I'm asking a lot of questions here, but I want you to think. Think deeply and carefully about each question and what it means to you. It is our thoughts that strengthen us and in turn, can also motivate us. The more we think, the more we learn.
Here are my things that stop me from giving up:
1. Not wanting to disappoint readers who won't know how my stories are going to end if I give up.
2. If I start something, I have to finish it.
3. By giving up, all the people that aren't fond of me win by me failing, by me giving up.
4. Giving up is not an option.
5. By not giving up I get stronger.
I hope this post inspired you and gave you reasons to write, perhaps you would like to share with me what you thought? You can contact me here on Goodreads, you can email me at israsravenheart@gmail.com, you can message or follow me on twitter at @israsravenheart, https://twitter.com/israsravenheart, you can also contact me on Linkedin under Isra Sravenheart https://www.linkedin.com/in/isra-srav... Manifestation, The Art of Creation ~ Part 1
What is Manifestation?
Hello everyone, Isra here. Today I want to talk about manifestation, now I've asked a few of you across twitter and Facebook about what the word manifest means to you and you came out with some pretty interesting answers!
Rachel Jennings Kenney said: To me, it means to see something more clearly by watching for signs or by actions.
Others said: It's about making something happen!
The second answer is closer to the truth.
The truth is manifesting is about creating, now not just creating but in the sense that we create our world, because we do! We create our reality, we shape it, by the things and thoughts we think and by the feelings we feel and the things we say! Still confused? Let's go back to childhood and look at all the birthday cakes you had, you would have candles on top of the cake, to represent the age you had become and then you'd make a wish? Remember that? Well manifesting is like making a wish but there's a bit more to it.
Thanks to the Law of Attraction and The Secret, this process is quite well known, but it's not well known enough! Millions of people out there still don't have what they want, because quite simply they don't know, that they possess this power to create! And that's not all, lots of you out there believe you are NOT worthy of having what you want and having the life you desire, so guess what? The universe doesn't give it to you! Because you are telling the Universe, I don't want that, I don't deserve that! And if I still haven't convinced you, after this paragraph, it's because of one reason, your mindset.
If you think negatively or complain, or feel bad or anything that isn't good, happy or positive, well guess what? The universe answers to that! By giving you, what you are focusing on. if you are focusing on bad luck, being cursed, well my friend, that is the exact vibration you are putting out into the world and that is exactly what you will get!
If you think happy, feel good and feel immensely positive about everything you do and write up goals list, things you'd like to bring into your life and focus on all the things you want, then sooner or later, the universe will give those things to you! Ask and it shall be given!
In the same context it's like the genie in Aladdin, the man pulls out the lamp and out appears the genie and the genie tells him he has three wishes, now think of the universe as your genie but the wishes are universal and they are unlimited! There is no limit to what you can manifest and bring to you! If you put limits on yourself and your abilities in life, those limits will stay there, because of YOU and ONLY you!
I love this quote, "The only limits in your life are the ones you create with your mind. " by Unknown. Because it exactly right, the only limits there are in life, are the ones created by YOU in your mind!
So if you truly believe in yourself, that you can have these things you desire, they will come flying into your life before you know it!
That's all for now, in Part 2, I will talk about how to manifest!

Manifestation, The Art of Creation ~ Part 2
Hello everyone, Isra here!
You may rember in Part 1 of this blog post, I touched on manifesting and what it is and explained a bit more about it. I explained how there is no limit to what you can create as long as your thoughts, words and feelings are in harmony.
Tonight we will talk about how to manifest! Now the same principle applies with the birthday cake scenario, you make a wish and you blow out the candles, you remember doing that? Well manifesting has a little touch with that but there's a bit more of a process to it.
Let's start with something simple, think about something you want to bring into your life. It can be anything! Remember there are no limits to what you and your mind can create!
It could be a cup of coffee, a bit of extra money needed to pay an upcoming bill, a new job, something you've seen in a shop and want to have. Think about what you want, I mean really think about what you want.
Now picture it in your mind and imagine what it would be like to have that thing in your possession, how good it feels, how happy you feel and how grateful you are to have it. The visualisation needs to feel real, it needs to be solid. You need to feel like you really have this desired thing in your life or it won't work.
And if you are thinking right now, "well it's not going to work anyway" then manifesting is not going to be for you! You need patience, belief in yourself and belief in the magick of the creation! If you don't have that, then of course it isn't going to work! If your thought process isn't aligned with the thought process and feeling of when you have this thing, then you're not going to be able to be in sync with that thought process in order to bring it to you in the first place!
I would actually spend around twenty to thirty minutes on your visualisation if you are doing it for the first time or do it until you feel like it feels real enough for you! It must feel real! When you are at that stage and you can clearly see yourself having this thing in your mind, then you are ready to move onto
the next step. Gratitude.
Now you need to feel grateful to the Universe for giving you this thing that you so badly wanted. How does it make you feel having this? What emotions are you feeling? Are you excited? Is your blood pumping? What does it feel like and then write down in your own words, starting with, " I am really grateful for," and add the thing you are grateful for having and why you are grateful for it and add in any feelings you are feeling, so if you are feeling happy, write that down too!
Begin a journal of which to note down your manifesting desires and in each entry, write down your desire, like this so for example, "I am so grateful for the 1000 followers on my Isrs Sravenheart twitter account, thank you, thank you, thank you," and write each desire at least ten times and always write it in the present time and start with "I am so grateful" because this puts you in the creative and gratitude mindset. This is crucial when doing any manifesting!
Add to it every day and there won't be any short supply to what you can bring to you.
Another thing you can do is the vision board, this could be where you make a collage of everything you want or you could paint it, draw it, use any creative means to create this board of which you will look at daily, and think of your goals as manifested.
These are just a small array of things you can do to start manifesting, but I didn't want to go on and on and for this to drag out as I wanted it to be simple so enjoy and if you have any tips on manifesting, feel free to email me at israsravenheart@gmail.com or you can contact me on my @israsravenheart twitter account, or you can message me on goodreads/ linked in/ facebook under Isra Sravenheart.

Connecting on Social Media
Hello everyone, Isra here.
Today I want to talk to you about the important of connecting. I am talking about all connectivity in all forms, whether you are an author, business owner, someone selling products, this is for everyone.
Okay so firstly you need to connect with people. You need to connect with their interests, their likes, their dislikes. You need to connect at their level and have something that makes them go, "wow, that is so like me" or words that are similar. Give them a reason to be interested in you. Give them a reason to connect.
Be professional, but be real on social media, in all connecting with people. We all want to see the real person! If you are someone who is really nice and caring and polite on social media but is really rough and unkind in real life, then you won't get that far. It is important to be real, obviously keep some things that don't make you look good, off the internet, such as swearing, political views, hate speech, because none of these will make you look interesting or good to connect with! Show real aspects of yourself, talk about your life. Talk about your likes, talk about what you do. Give people an element of the real you. It's okay to talk about negative things such as problems but keep it to a minimum on social media.
Another crucial element is building relationships. Don't just spam your website and go off on your merry way! Talk to people. Answer their questions and queries. If someone expresses interest in your work or what you do then reply to them. Give them a follow up, ask how they are, how their day is going! Connect with people.
You may find someone who is really interested in you and your work and what is the mistake most make? They immediately spam that person with their link. No that is not how to do it. Start a conversation, whether it is something simple such as, "Hi, thank you for your interest in "insert thing here" or "Thank you for your comment, how are you today?" If they have questions, answer them honestly and thank them for taking the time to comment/ interact with you. Always thank people for making the connection! Always be nice and thoughtful! So a good tip is never to reply when you are upset, angry or just in a bad mood.
Somebody may ask for your links, if so, give them the links to all your relevant websites... but add in a conversational talking point so it is simply not just links. Offer them something if you can, when something is offered it creates an incentive. Incentives are very good for starting relationships and it gives that person a reason to return to you!
If someone wishes to connect with you on your personal profile, then by all means do so, but check out your content. Is it professional? Is it interesting? Is it kind? Is it thoughtful and positive? Is it something that stands out from the crowd? Remember only put out content you would be happy seeing if you were viewing another profile... if something irks you or is negative, discouraging in any way, then consider to remove it. Make sure that any public personal profiles give people positive reasons to connect with you, the same with business/ professional profiles. Make sure they are exciting looking, stand out and truly say what you want to say, in regards to what you are promoting online!
I can't begin to stress enough how important connections are. You must make a connection, rather than just spamming. Be real. Be a person. Take the focus off you, in a sense but be real. Smile. Be positive. Happy! Post as often as you can and post content that relates to your brand and does so in a positive way.
I hope this helped.
I just really wanted to express the importance of connecting!

Happy Halloween/ Halloween Traditions
Hello all, Isra here. I just wanted to say Happy Halloween to all my followers wherever you may be in the world and hope it is a lovely occasion for you! As a witch I look forward to Halloween most out of all of the holidays and so I thought in honour of that, we would talk about Halloween Traditions and just explain what it is all about for those who don't know!
So Halloween, better known as Samhain that happens every year on October 31st actually started many years ago when people would dress up as ghouls to ward off the dead, years later candy companies jumped on this and now we have what is known as trick or treating, which has nothing to do with Halloween whatsoever but it can be fun for the younger generation. Halloween or All Hallows Eve is said to be the one day of the year where the dead can come back and visit us. It is also an auspicious time so the veil between our world and the spirit world is incredibly thin, and it is a time where we honour those who passed on and also our ancestors by manner of rituals, offerings and letting them know we are thankful to them for all their assistance.
Halloween has a few traditions. My favourite in partilcular is the apple love one. You simply peel an apple all the way without breaking the peel until you come to the end. Once you have the peel throw it over your shoulder and whatever the initial is, will be the initial of the one you are meant to marry!
Another is to light a red candle while staring into a mirror in a dark night with just candle light for lighting. By concentrating on the vision, you should be able to see who your true love is in the mirrors reflection!
There are some myths surrounding Halloween, which I found online as I did some research so I cannot take credit for these. I hope you enjoy reading them as I did.
Black Cats
Often used as symbols of bad luck, black cats grace many Halloween decorations. The black cat's bad reputation dates back to the Dark Ages, when witch hunts were commonplace. Elderly, solitary women were often accused of witchcraft, and their pet cats were said to be their "familiars," or demonic animals that had been given to them by the devil. [Read: Here Kitty, Kitty: 10 Facts for Cat Lovers]
Another medieval myth told that Satan turned himself into a cat when socializing with witches. But nowadays, black cats aren't synonymous with bad luck and mischief everywhere — in Ireland, Scotland and England, it's considered good luck for a black cat to cross your path.
Jack-O'-Lanterns
A fun fall activity, carving Jack-o'-lanterns actually has its roots in a sinister, tragic fable. Celtic folklore tells the tale of a drunken farmer named Jack who tricked the devil, but his trickery resulted in him being turned away from both the gates of heaven and hell after he died. Having no choice but to wander around the darkness of purgatory, Jack made a lantern from a turnip and a burning lump of coal that the devil had tossed him from hell.
Jack, the story goes, used the lantern to guide his lost soul; as such, the Celts believed that placing Jack-o'-lanterns outside would help guide lost spirits home when they wander the streets on Halloween. Originally made using a hollowed-out turnip with a small candle inside, Jack-o'-lanterns' frightening carved faces also served to scare evil spirits away. When the Irish potato famine of 1846 forced Irish families to flee to North America, the tradition came with them. Since turnips were hard to come by in the states at the time, pumpkins were used as a substitute.
Bats
Medieval folklore also described bats as witches' familiars, and seeing a bat on Halloween was considered to be quite an ominous sign. One myth was that if a bat was spotted flying around one's house three times, it meant that someone in that house would soon die. Another myth was that if a bat flew into your house on Halloween, it was a sign that your house was haunted because ghosts had let the bat in.
Spiders
A common source of fear, spiders make for creepy, crawly Halloween staples. They join the ranks of bats and black cats in folklore as being evil companions of witches during medieval times. One superstition held that if a spider falls into a candle-lit lamp and is consumed by the flame, witches are nearby. And if you spot a spider on Halloween, goes another superstition, it means that the spirit of a deceased loved one is watching over you.
Witches
The stereotypical image of the haggard witch with a pointy black hat and warty nose stirring a magical potion in her cauldron actually stems from a pagan goddess known as "the crone," who was honored during Samhain. The crone was also known as "the old one" and the "Earth mother," who symbolized wisdom, change, and the turning of the seasons. Today, the kind, all-knowing old crone has morphed into the menacing, cackling witch.
Cauldrons
The pagan Celts believed that after death, all souls went into the crone's cauldron, which symbolized the Earth mother's womb. There, the souls awaited reincarnation, as the goddess' stirring allowed for new souls to enter the cauldron and old souls to be reborn. That image of the cauldron of life has now been replaced by the steaming, bubbling, ominous brew
Witch's Broomstick
The witch's broomstick is another superstition that has its roots in medieval myths. The elderly, introverted women that were accused of witchcraft were often poor and could not afford horses, so they navigated through the woods on foot with the help of walking sticks, which were sometimes substituted by brooms.
English folklore tells that during night-time ceremonies, witches rubbed a "flying" potion on their bodies, closed their eyes and felt as though they were flying. The hallucinogenic ointment, which caused numbness, rapid heartbeat and confusion, gave them the illusion that they were soaring through the sky.
Trick-Or-Treating in Costumes
In olden times, it was believed that during Samhain, the veil between our world and the spirit world was thinnest, and that the ghosts of the deceased could mingle with the living. The superstition was that the visiting ghosts could disguise themselves in human form, such as a beggar, and knock on your door during Samhain asking for money or food. If you turned them away empty-handed, you risked receiving the wrath of the spirit and being cursed or haunted.
Another Celtic myth was that dressing up as a ghoul would fool the evil spirits into thinking that you were one of them so that they would not try to take your soul. In the U.S., trick-or-treating became a customary Halloween tradition around the late 1950s, after it was brought over by Irish immigrants in the early 1900s.
Halloween Colors
The traditional Halloween colors of orange and black actually stem from the pagan celebration of autumn and the harvest, with orange symbolizing the colors of the crops and turning leaves, while black marks the "death" of summer and the changing season. Over time, green, purple and yellow have also been introduced into the color scheme of Halloween decorations.
Mischief Night
From some — namely troublesome teenagers — Halloween is also a time for neighborhood pranks. From egging and toilet-papering houses to smashing jack-o'-lanterns, "devil's night" can be full of mischief and menace.
The ancient Celts celebrated Samhain with bonfires, games and comical pranks. By the 1920s and 30s, however, the celebrations became more rowdy, with rising acts of vandalism, possibly due to the tension caused by the Great Depression, according to Jack Santino's "Halloween and Other Festivals of Death and Life" (Univ. of Tennessee Press, 1994). To curb the vandalism, adults began to hand out candy, reigniting the forgotten tradition of trick-or-treating in costume in exchange for sweets. This successfully replaced most of the mischief elements from Oct. 31 celebrations, so the troublemakers instead adopted Oct. 30 as their official night to pull pranks and wreak havoc.
Candy Apples
Candy apples are popular Halloween treats, and the sugary fruit on a stick was handed out during the early days of trick-or-treating in North America — before concerns over unwrapped candy became an issue. Today, candy apples can be covered in caramel or chocolate with nuts, as well as in the classic, shiny red syrup.
The fusion of Celtic and Roman traditions is behind Halloween's candy-apple staple. Samhain was around the time of the Roman festival honoring Pamona, the goddess of fruit trees. The goddess is often symbolized by an apple, so the fruit became synonymous with Samhain celebrations of the harvest.
Bobbing for Apples
In ancient times, the apple was viewed as a sacred fruit that could be used to predict the future. Bobbing for apples is one of the traditional games used for fortune-telling on Halloween night. It was believed that the first person to pluck an apple from the water-filled bucket without using their hands would be the first to marry.
If the bobber lucked out and caught an apple on the first try, it meant that they would experience true love, while those who got an apple after many tries would be fickle in their romantic endeavors. Another myth was that if a girl put her bobbed apple under her pillow on Halloween night, she would dream about her future husband.
Candy Corn
The candy most synonymous with Halloween, candy corn was invented in the late 1880s and began to be mass-produced in the early 1900s. The original process for making candy corn was cumbersome and time-consuming, as each color of syrup had to be heated up in large vats and carefully poured by hand into specially shaped molds.
But the yellow, orange and white candy — meant to resemble a corn kernel — was a huge hit and remains a popular part of Halloween to this day.
Halloween is also about honoring our ancestors so an idea here is light a few candles, place an offering on your alter or outside, doesn't have to be anything fancy, could be some candy, an apple, bread, sweets or gold coins.
You can also say some words to honor your ancestors there are many already written chants online, but I would suggest you write your own words as it will be more personal and will fit the occasion better.
But here is one I found that you can use:
Perform this rite outside if at all possible. If you normally cast a circle, do so now. Say:
Samhain is here, and it is a time of transitions.
The winter approaches, and the summer dies.
This is the time of the Dark Mother,
a time of death and of dying.
This is the night of our ancestors
and of the Ancient Ones.
(Taken from paganwiccan.com)
Well that's all for now. I hope you all have a super spooktacular Halloween and I will be with you again very soon.

As this will be the third time lucky for "Her Blackened Soul" I am likely to be releasing it as a third edition.
Also "Her Blackened Heart" is also finished and will be the next project on my editors desk! I finished that one on the 28th of November but have been so busy, only had time to update!
I will be starting on my latest one, soon! So stay tuned for that! In the meantime here is the giveaway for those of you who would like to enter! https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh...
Well if I don't update you before, Merry Christmas.

Goodreads Giveaway Over/ Tying up Loose Ends over December/ New Publish Release Xmas 2016/ Early 2017
Hello everyone, Isra here. I realise this blog post title is a bit of a mouthful so I'll get right to it!
The Goodreads giveaway has now ended so I just wanted to touch base on the things that will be occurring in the next few weeks!
"Her Blackened Soul" is currently undergoing formatting, once this is done I will be re uploading it with another publisher, it will be still be on amazon but the distribution is greater! I hope to have it re uploaded and listed by Xmas but if not definitely early 2017!
The Goodreads winners shouldn't have any delays to the books as I will order the copies right away as soon as it is listed! However if any problems do arise I will update!
This is a very exciting process for me, while I will still be going down the self publishing route, the chances of exposure and more knowing my book will be greater and what a better way to kick off the new year!
If I don't update before Xmas, I wanted to wish everyone of my followers a very happy christmas and new year. Until next time, Isra xx
