Memorial Day – My Thoughts

This weekend we are honoring the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while fighting to save our freedom.  May they all Rest In Peace.

If only the words of John Lennon’s song, “Imagine” came to fruition and we had world peace, no wars, no falling soldiers to memorialize this weekend. Of only…..

FACING FEAR AND ADJUSTING YOUR MINDSET

I first experienced the paralyzing affect of fear in September, 1979 when my twin boys were born two months premature.  I remember seeing the look of fear in my husband’s face.  I felt nothing; as if I was outside of my body watching from afar.  I didn’t understand this weird feeling because I was young and fear became part of my life for the first time.

Thirty-nine years later with the experience of a life time of fear, disappointment and frustrations,  I now know exactly what happened to me that day in 1979.  I created a defense mechanism that changed my personality from a shy, introverted woman to a woman who had the ability to handle the stress of situations and help my young boys.  This new personality took over my body to give me the strength and unrelenting power I needed to overcome obstacles that presented me throughout the years, which were many.

For years I felt like I was living in a fog. I didn’t understand the phenomenon that took over my mind in 1979.

In 2010 when I retired from my job and finally stepped down from the unrelenting treadmill I was on for many years, my personality changed again.  It was like the two personalities within my mind were fighting with each other to take over. It left me feeling depressed, agitated and with that I developed an anxiety disorder.

With medicine and therapy I found a way to incorporate the two personalities into one.  I took on the power from personality two and regained the gentleness, passion and caring personality I was born with. This is who I am today.

No — I am not an acclaimed psychiatrist, I am a woman who lived through challenging years creating wisdom from grueling fear and frustrations.  I like who I am now and feel comforted in my new acquired self who can create a business and share my life with people who may have experienced what I did.

If you have any question about this post or want to share your similar experiences, please contact me here on my blog site.

Hugs

WHAT IS ZENTANGLE ART

”Zentangle art is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.”  Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, founders of the art of Zentangles, from their book, “The Book of Zentangles.”

Zentangle Inspired Art

Student Mosaics

I became a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT 27) last April and it was an amazing experience, making new friends from many different counties.  I will never regret my decision to attend this class and I am looking fotward to teaching this amazing art.

Workshop

At the beginning of my workshops I guide you through a meditative moment.  This meditative moment will help you relax from your day and allow your mind to be clear of stress.  You are now ready to begin your first tangle experience creating one line at a time allowing your mind to focus on only your pen and the tile you are working on.

Listening to music while you are creating further helps you to relax, focus and thoroughly enjoy the experience.

    *  Do you want to destress?

*   Do you need to heal you heart?

*   Do you want to learn something easy and easily addictive?

Go to my website’s scheduling page and book a 15 minute call with me.  I promise you will not regret it.

Find Your Tribe for Support and Friendship

The past two years my life has been very hectic.  I occasionally had negative thoughts thinking about how crazy I must be.  Maybe when I retired in 2010, I should have “really retired.”  No worries, these thoughts only last about a minute and I get back on the everlasting treadmill pushing forward.

I am pushing forward because I have a real tribe who I believe has my back if I need help.  New business owners need a tribe for guidance, support, and the occasional “you go girl” attitude.  It lifts me up and helps me go forward tackling the next hurdle or problem that appears to occur on a daily basis.

In January I attended a business retreat in Florida with The Success Connection, our fearless leader is Jamie Broderick.  Jamie is our fearless leader because she creates the opportunity to meet amazing women.  At the  retreat I opened up my soul allowing my demons to escape.  The attendees listened and gently supported me giving me strength to continue to maintain the mentality to achieve my goals for the year.

They are now my tribe.  Jamie runs two retreats a year and she finds the best presenters who share powerful tools that we all need to succeed. This September the “Soar to New Heights” retreat in New York will test my mental and physical strength competing to finish a rope course.  In my opinion, if I make it through this physical challenge, I will tackle any bumps in the road to allow me to reach my goal as a successful business entrepreneur.

Jamie recently lowered her yearly membership. As she stated in her recent post, she revels in helping people succeed and if she can help anyone to reach their goals, then she exceeded her business mission.  You have to check out her website and consider becoming a member and sign up for her retreats.  You will not be sorry.

In summary, finding your tribe in what ever mission you venture, is a powerful support system for going forward.  Don’t take my word for it – check it out.

HUGS,

JUDE

Celebrating one year of my Website

I received a call from my web page developer to give me an update of my standing in the virtual world.  It is a reminder last April was my launch date.  So much happened since that launch date, which explains why I have been quiet here on my blog.  I received my certification as a Zentangle teacher last April and started the process of getting certified as an art practitioner.  I completed the training but needed to obtain insurance and a business license.  I am proud to announce my official business is now Scrapper Jude Designs, LLC.

I sent my instructor my completed application today and hope I will soon announce my new certification as an art practitioner.

The main point I want to emphasize in this post is I need to give a shout out to Mainstreet Host, my website developer, for their professionalism and good customer service.  A special thank you to  Mia-Ayers Goss who believes in my passion and with her undying support, helped me negotiate a new maintenance agreement with optimization that I can work with.  It is extremely difficult to open a new business and purchase much needed training without companies like Mainstreet Host who understands the challenges a new business owner is up against. I highly recommend Mainstreet Host.

Enjoy your week and you will hear from me more often, I promise.

HUGS

#THE GOOD DOCTOR

I am obsessed with the new television show on ABC, The Good Doctor.  Yes I am sensitive to a show like this because I had a son with disabilities.  For the first time, ABC had the gumption  and initiative to actually portray an autistic man as the main character and as a doctor as well!!!

The writers are not only creating a character with autism to teach the world that people with disabilities have abilities, but they are showing how he can make a difference with his medical team.

Look at the trailer below and you will see for yourself.  If this show will change just one person’s opinion of discrimination, one step at a time, we can change the world as well.

Owner and Designer of ScrapperJude Designs

Those of you who may not know my back story, let me re-introduce myself.  I am a senior citizen who worked for many years both in the private sector and for the federal government.  I retired from my federal job in 2010.  For the past seven years I have been looking for how i can  share my life with you in an inspiring and passionate way.

I was given a gift from GOD 37 years ago when I gave birth to twin sons. They were born two months premature.  My one son survived the ordeal of his early birth and is now a husband and father of two children.  Jason developed problems after birth which left him with severe brain damage.  He was diagnosed later on in his life with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy.

He taught me about what life is really about.  Life is precious and each day is a gift.  Jason lived for 28 years and died on December 22, 2006.  Eleven years ago this month I was sitting at his bedside in the Intensive Care Unit at York Hospital.  He had double pneumonia.  ‘After living longer than anyone expected, it was his decision to return to God where he is now my guardian angel.

I created this website along with my online business in his honor and memory.  I am a certified Zentangle Teacher and soon will be a certified art practitioner.  Creating is my passion and it helped me though the difficult years caring for Jason. It is my time to give back.

My business focuses on teaching healing art with Zentangles and other media.  I create workshops to help people find time to use art for healing.  Zentangle art is a new form of art that is created by using a variety of tangles together to form a abstract design.   It is both addictive and zen-like.  When you start creating tangles you get lost in what you are doing and are totally focused on creating one tangle at a time.

Please feel free to look through my website.  My siite will take you to my Etsy shop at www.etsy/shop/ scrapperjude if you want to purchase one of my drawings.

Virtual hugs,

Jude
