Sharon Chen is a former corporate "Yes" girl turned cookbook author, food blogger, and avid sous vide fanatic. She is deeply versed in content creation and content marketing, especially in the food industry.

Born and raised in Shanghai, China, Sharon is heavily influenced by her mother's home cooking. It was not until Sharon started her own family in the States in 2013 that she realized how important cooking and eating at home are in order to have a vibrant and healthy family life. She soon became a self-taught home chef and has been extending her culinary journey from simple Chinese recipes passed on by her mother to a variety of authentic cuisines she learned through her extensive travels and blogging.

Mind ma…moreWriter's block can be easily avoided if you do some mind mapping and outlining by using index cards or post-it notes before writing your book. Mind mapping is basically to create your chapters. Outlining is to come up with what you are going to talk about in each chapter. These two steps are by far the most important practices to writing a book.

You don't need to write any sentence at this stage. Just write key words or phrases on each index cards. Write anything that you can think of that's related to your topic. Then move the index cards around, combine the repeated ones, discard the ones that seem to be too far from your topic. Soon, you will discover that you have already created your book chapters and subchapters.

When you write, you just pick one index card, take a look at the keywords on the card, then start writing that point. Don't worry about the flow between each subchapter or chapter yet. You will get there.

With the above practice, writer's block doesn't really happen to me anymore. :)(less)

One-Pot Pumpkin Turkey Chili

This pumpkin turkey chili is a high-protein, one-pot meal that’s both gluten-free and low-carb—the perfect healthy comfort food for a busy weeknight. Let’s be real: the words “easy,” “healthy,” and “deeply satisfying” don’t always end up in the same sentence. But when they do, it’s something worth writing home about. Or, in this case, writing […]
