If you read every article ever written that advises on how to write you will have wasted valuable time when you could have been doing what you love. Just write, learn how you best work and follow that recipe. If all the experts say to only write on the third Wednesday of a month, but only if there is a full moon that night, it doesn't mean this will best suit you.
Make yourself targets. I chose 1,500 and 2,500 words per weekday as writing targets and found I always beat my lowest word count. If I passed 2,500 I rewarded myself (mostly with 20 minutes comedy episodes) but that is down to your preference.(less)

Book 3 an inconvenient truth

As time marches on both priorities and commitments change, motivation and drive ebbs and flows, new and shiny video games get released. I could go on, but skirting around the truth does no one any favours.

I haven't been putting the time into Book 3 - that is the truth of the matter. I could come up with a thousand ~~bullshit~~ excuses, but the more words I type here the less I add to the next chapter. Read more of this blog post »
