Michael Laird has lived and traveled all over the world and worked in a large number of jobs and occupations ranging from lifeguard, selling appliances, and running a rifle range early on and, later, as a missile launch crew commander, an assistant professor at the University of South Carolina, a captain in special ops and, for some time now, as a contractor/consultant in the field of software development.

He currently lives in Westchester County, New York, with his wife Linda. With four grown children between the two of them, they are expecting this to eventually lead to grandchildren. Even so, they still consider themselves too young to be grandparents. Currently they are between dogs.
